A. All and everybody/everyone
everybody나 everyone을 의미할때 일반적으로 all을 사용하지 않음
Everybody enjoyed the game. (not All enjoyed)
그러나 all of us/ you/ them은 사용
All of us enjoyed the game. (not Everybody of us)
B. All and everything
all 또는 everything을 사용가능한 경우
I'll do all I can to help. or I'll do everything I can to help.
all I can/ all you need 그러나 all 단독 사용하지않음
She thinks she knows everything. (not he knows all)
She know all about blog system.
"the only thing(s)"를 의미
All I've eaten this morning is a half of corn.
(=the only thing I've eaten today)
C. Every/everybody/everyone/everything 단수
Everybody has a secret.
Every seat in the theater was taken.
everybody/ everyone 뒤에 they/them/their
Everybody said they enjoyed themselves. (=he or she enjoyed himself or herself)
D. Whole and all
Whole= complete, entire. 단수명사로 대부분 사용
Sofia saw the whole series of the drama.
Sofia has live her whole life in Madrid.
She bought a whole package of skin care cosmetics.
the/my/her before whole. whole과 all 비교:
the whole way/ all the way
His whole life/ all her life
whole은 일반적으로 불가산명사에 사용하지 않음
She spent all the money to buy it.
E. Every/all/whole with time words
얼마나 자주 발생하는지 표현하기 위해 every 사용
(every day/ every Monday/ every 10 minutes)
When he was on vacation, he searched and visited famous restaurants every day.
We don't see each other very often- about every 4 weeks.
All day/ the whole day= the complete day from beginning to end:
We spent all day/ the whole day in the hotel.
She didn't eat anything all night/ the whole night.
참고 all day(not all the day), all week(not all the week)
Compare all the time and every time:
They really enjoyed their vacation. They were not at hotel all the time. (=always, continuously)
Every time I see you, you are so lovely. (= each time, on every occasion)
