A. 관계사절의 두가지 타입

Type1.
The man who lives next door is a lawyer.
Jang works for a company that makes air conditioner.
I'm going to stay the guest house (that) he recommended.

위 예시에서 관계사절은 문장에서 화자가 이야기하고자 하는 것이 어떤 사람이나 물건인지(또는 어떤 종류의 사람이나 물건인지) 말해준다.

이러한 관계사절에서 commas(,) 콤마 사용하지 않음.
People who come from Daegu can stand the heat well.

Type2.
My sister Jang mi in, who lives a island, is a officer.
Seunghyun told us about the new job, which he doesn't like.
We enjoyed the food in the Dahan isakaya, which Jang made a reservation.

위 예시에서 관계사절은 화자가 이야기하고자 하는 어떤 사람이나 물건을 말하지 않는다. 우리는 이미 어떤 사람이나 물건을 의미하는지 알고 있다:
"My sister Jang mi in", "Seunghyun", and "Dahan isakaya".

위 예시에서 관계사절은 사람이나 사물에 대해 추가적인 정보를 주고 있다.

이러한 절에서 우리는 commas(,) 콤마를 사용한다.

My friend Jang, who comes from Daegu, likes summer.

B. 관계사절의 두가지 타입에서 사람은 who, 사물은 which를 사용한다. But:

Type1.
that 사용가능:
Do you know anyone who/that speaks Chinese and Spanish?
Jang works for a company which/that makes air conditioner.

목적어일때 who/which/that 생략가능
She stayed at the guesthouse (that/which) he recommended.
Last night I met my friends (who/that) I have been meeting for 10 years.

이런 종류의 절에서 whom은 잘 사용하지 않음.

Type2.
that 사용불가:
Sofia, who (not that) speaks Korean and Spanish, wants to go to Spain someday.
Seunghyun told us about his new job, which (not that) he doesn't like.

who나 which 생략 불가
They stayed at the Matbae guesthouse, which one of their friend recommended.
Last night I met Jang, who I have been meeting for 10 years.

사람에게 whom 사용가능(목적어일때)
Last night I met Jang, whom I have been meeting for 10 years.

두가지 타입의 관계사 모두 whose와 where 사용가능:
We met a woman whose house had been struck by lightning.
What is the name of foreign city where you want to visit?

Amy, whose house had been struck by lightning, was in a very bad mood.
Sofia is spending 3 weeks in Spain, where many people visit to walk for Camino de Santiago.
