Adverbs with the Verb

A. 어떤 부사는(for example, always/ also/ probably) 동사와 함께 문장의 가운데로 가기도 한다.

Sofia always takes a bus after Spanish class.
I was feeling tired, and I was also so hungry.
The airplane will probably be canceled.

B. 문장 중간에 들어가는 부사의 위치에 대한 규칙들을 공부해보자. (They are only general rules, so there are exceptions. 예외있음.)

(1) 동사가 한 단어 일 경우(drive/ fell/ cooked, etc.), 부사는 주로 동사 앞에 온다.

Adverb Verb
I almost fell as I was going down the stairs.

I cleaned my room and also cooked dinner. (not cooked also)
"Should I give you my phone number?"
"No, I already have it."

이 부사들(always/ often/ also, etc.)은 have to 앞에 온다.
He never calls me. I always have to call him. (not I have always to call)

(2) 그러나 am/ is/ are/ was/ were 뒤에 부사가 옴:
I was feeling tired, and I was also hungry.
Why are you always late? You're never on time.

(3) 동사가 두 단어나 그 이상일경우(for example, can remember/ doesn't eat/ will be canceled), 부사는 첫번째 동사(can/ doesn't/ will, etc.)뒤에 온다.
I can never remember your smile.
She doesn't often eat meat.
Are you definitely going to the hair shop on Tuesday?
The airplane will probably be canceled.

You have always been very lovely to me.
She can't cook. She can't even cook the noodle.
Do you still work for the "D" company?

probably는 부정(isn't/won't, etc.) 앞에 온다.
I probably won't see him. or I will probably not see him. (not I won't probably)

C. allboth도 사용가능:
We all felt happy when we drink a beer. (not we felt all happy)
We have both applied for the job.
We are all going out tonight.

D. 때로 문장의 일부를 반복하는 대신 is/ will/ did를 사용:
He always says he won't be late, but he always is. (= he is always late)
I've never done it, and I never will. (= I will never do it)
