​​​A. ​As = at the same time as
두 가지 일이 동시에 발생했을 때 사용 가능:
We welcomed her with open arms ​as she came in the kitchen.
(We welcomed and she came at the same time)
I watched her ​as she wear a new inner wear.
Can you close the door ​as you go out, please?

또는 뭔가 다른 일을 하고 있는 도중에 어떤 일이 생겼을때를 말할 수도 있다(in the middle of doing something else):
Jiyoung crushed other car ​as she was looking for the parking zone.
I met her ​as I was going ​to eat the lunch.

​just as(= exactly at that moment)도 사용 가능:
​Just as I sat down, the food served.
I had to leave ​just as the concert was getting hot.

두 가지 일이 긴 시간동안 함께 벌어지고 있을 때도 as를 사용한다:
​As the day went on, the weather got worse.
I began to enjoy studying more ​as I got used to it.

​as​와 when 비교:
두 가지 일이 동시에 벌어졌을때 ​as 사용.
​As we walked the restaurant, we talked about what we would order for dinner. (= at the same time)
한 가지 일 다음에 다른 일이 발생했을 때 ​when 사용.
​When we got home, we started cooking dinner.
(not As we got home)

​​​B. ​As = because
​As는 종종 "because"를 의미한다:
​As it is a national holiday ​3rd October, I will go to Seoul to see her. (= because it is a national holiday)
The thief was difficult to identify ​as he was wearing a mask during the robbery.

이러한 방식으로 ​since도 사용:
​Since it is a national holiday 3rd October, I will go to Seoul to see her.
The thief was difficult to identify ​since he was wearing a mask during the robbery.

​as와 ​when 비교:
I couldn't contact Kyungmin ​as she was on a business trip, and she doesn't have a cell phone. (= because she was on a trip)
​As she lived near me, I used to see her pretty often. (= because she lived near me)-> 희망사항

Kyungmin's passport was stolen ​when she was on a business trip. (= during the time she was away)
​When she lived near me, I used to see her pretty often. (= at the time she lived near me)
